"Bom Dia, Mi
Amigo!!!
Allow me to thank you for making my
journey to Brazil the most exciting vacation I have experienced. In my
sixty years, I have traveled throughout the United States, Canada,
Europe, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean Islands. As a
"poor" man, I have experienced many adventures and thought I
had seen it all. With your help, Salvador de Bahia offered the ultimate
in vacation travel, and I shall return.
I speak highly of you and the people of
Salvador. My every conversation turns to "Our Guide Joel",
Oledum, our schooner adventure, the Pelourinho, Danielle's gems, my new
Brazilian shoes, the beautiful people of Brazil, the wealth of history
in Salvador (...), our visit to the favela, Brazilian beaches, our visit to the "Hippie Village",
the African Orishas - Obaluaye, Odum, Ogum, etc.,
Brazilian food and my experience as a vegetarian, the African market,
and I go on and on and on. I shall return. (...)
we'll never forget you

(...) While we were in Rio de Janeiro, we thought we were in
paradise.
When we got to Salvador de Bahia and, upon arrival, saw Al Jackson kissing
the ground, we knew we were in for something special. (before going any
further, let me say that this ranks among the most enjoyable and
educational experiences I have had, disquised as a vacation.)
We were greeted by our guide, Joel, a middle-age, six foot four, well
built, cutie, who Sandra Carter had to have a picture of to show the girls
at work what she had for the week. Joel is a former member of the National
Brazilian Soccer Team, and can be seen in a minor role in "The Wild
Orchid" and other Brazilian movies. Although he looked like Flavio (the
white super male model), he let us know right away that he is "African".
He said that all Brazilians have African blood, regardless of how
they look or what they consider themselves (whatever they think they are,
as a whole, they are some beautiful people and fat is rare).
(...) Salvador is not publized as much as other cities in Brazil, however,
everything we did in Bahia over-shadowed our experiences in Rio.(...)
(...) Thanks to our knowledgable guide, we did everything that time
allowed. (...)
(...) We hated to leave brazil, and everyone vowed to return. If you haven't
experienced Brazil, include Salvador de Bahia in your future plans. (...)
